Yeah my rating decreased from 1192 to 1155..... codeforces need to fix this
This is not necessarily a mistake. If most of the people who got DQ'd were people you beat, that means your performance is less impressive from an elo perspective with those people removed.
It is a good point though that getting caught for cheating is perhaps not a severe enough penalty. Something that could fix this and curtail cheating long term would be if everyone who is DQ'd scores 0 on the contest instead of being removed. Then your rating would only increase when people are removed, and it would discourage cheating more (because if you cheated and were caught, now your rating would suffer), and it would also encourage people to find cheaters and help improve the system (because doing so would improve their own rating).
The only downside to this proposal I see is the fact that this will make false positive errors in the cheating detection too costly. If that can be handled carefully, I hope this gets implemented.
I still think there is a mistake. My ranking in the last few contests have not changed much and I have gained 81 points after these rating changes. How will you explain this? If you look at my ranks in the contests, you will realize that I should not be 1561 but rather around 1480 which was what it was originally.
But the ratings only massively increase for new users who have participated in 5-15 contests. On the other hand, some old users have experienced a massive decrease in their ratings
I get it but I think there is a mistake there are a lot of big changes in rating of many people
Thanks for help
I don't know how long I'll have to wait to become a pupil, my rating has dropped by 43 points :(
According to your profile, you have solved a total of 1239 problems on codeforces. But the reality here is, over a 1000 of those problems are rated between 800-1100. Your predicted max rating might not even get you to 1200 :(
yeah I know. how should I practice for 1200? Is it ok to practice in 1200-1300 range?
Yeah. Try to challenge yourself by solving problems outside your comfort zone. As a legendary newbie (lol, couldn't find a better name for you), you are more than ready to solve those problems. They mostly require fundamental algorithms such as sorting, binary search, basic math, and brute force.
My seniors told me to always practice problems that are at least 200 points higher than your current rating. At first you will struggle; you might need to take help from tutorials or youtube, but eventually you will get the hang of it by learning the new approaches. Good luck.
PS: My rating also decreased by 20 points, so I'm pissed off too :')
mine dropped from 1127 to 1101 but the thing is i did not participate in any of the recent contests
The rollback was pretty far imo. My CodeTON participation at March 30 was also recalculated, so contests surrounding that timestamp might be the case with you.
fortunately it has returned infact i got a +2 over it :D
